10kW/12kW 120/240V Split-Phase Hybrid Inverter
Split-Phase Hybrid Inverter with Solar, Battery and Grid Integration for Residential and Small Commercial Energy Storage
The ShanPu GES48-500M series is a 10kW/12kW split-phase hybrid inverter delivering 120/240V output for North American residential and light-commercial solar systems, integrating solar PV, a 51.2V battery bank and utility grid in one unit. Dual PV inputs accept up to 6000W x 2 at 500Vdc maximum open-circuit voltage with a 90-450V MPPT range; mains-mode efficiency exceeds 95% and inverter mode 91%. Solar powers loads and charges the battery first; when solar is insufficient the system draws on battery or grid, and during an outage it continues in backup or off-grid mode for whole-home, pump and workshop loads.
How the Split-Phase Hybrid Inverter Works
The inverter can integrate four key components into one energy management system:
Solar PV → Hybrid Inverter → AC Loads
Solar PV → Hybrid Inverter → Battery
Grid → Hybrid Inverter → AC Loads
Battery → Hybrid Inverter → AC Loads
During normal operation, solar power can be used to supply connected loads and charge the battery. When solar production is insufficient, the system can use battery or grid power according to the configured operating mode.
During a grid outage, the inverter can operate in backup or off-grid mode and use available battery and solar power to supply connected loads.

FAQ
What is a split-phase hybrid inverter?
A split-phase hybrid inverter is an energy conversion device designed to provide 120/240V AC power while integrating solar PV, battery storage and utility grid power. It can operate in both grid-connected and off-grid or backup applications.
What does 120/240V split phase mean?
A 120/240V split-phase system provides two 120V legs and 240V between the two legs. This allows compatible systems to supply both standard 120V loads and 240V loads from the same electrical system.
Is this inverter grid-tied or off-grid?
It supports both on-grid and off-grid operation. The specific operating mode depends on the system configuration, wiring, settings and applicable installation requirements.
Can the inverter work with solar panels?
Yes. The inverter has a maximum PV open-circuit voltage of 500Vdc and an MPPT voltage range of 90–450Vdc. It supports up to 6000W PV input per PV channel according to the specified model configuration.
How much solar power can the inverter handle?
The specified PV input is up to 6000W × 2, with a maximum PV input current of 22A × 2. The actual recommended PV array size should be determined according to the specific model and system design.
What is the maximum battery charging current?
The maximum mains charging current is 120A for some models and 160A for others. The solar charging current can reach up to 200A, while the configurable maximum hybrid charging current is 0–220A.
Can the inverter provide backup power during a power outage?
Yes. When configured for backup/off-grid operation, the inverter can use battery and available solar power to supply connected loads after the utility grid fails.
Is this inverter suitable for whole-home backup?
It can be used for high-capacity residential backup systems, but whether it can support the entire home depends on the total continuous load, peak load, motor starting requirements and the inverter's rated capacity. Large loads should be evaluated individually before system design.
Does the inverter support generators?
Generator integration depends on the specific system design and control configuration. If generator integration is required, the generator specifications and control requirements should be confirmed before selecting the inverter.
